David Joyner is an American business executive. He is the president and chief executive officer of CVS Health.[1][2][3]
Joyner is the former president of CVS Caremark and replaced Karen S. Lynch as president and CEO of CVS Health.[4]
Joyner received a BBA in finance from Texas Tech University in 1986.[5]
He first worked at Aetna before joining CVS Caremark, eventually becoming president of the company.[5] In April 2024, he wrote an article for Fortune about pharmacy benefit management.[6]
In July 2024, he testified before the United States House Committee on Oversight and Accountability about pharmacy benefit managers and perscription drug markets.[7]
In October 2024, Joyner became the president and chief executive officer of CVS Health, along with joining the board of directors.[8] He replaced Karen S. Lynch.[4] Investor pressure after poor company financials was cited as one of the causes for the change in CVS Health's leadership.[9]
He is on the advisory council of the Rawls College of Business.[5]
